Hi, I'm Tim.
I was born and raised in Aotearoa, New Zealand. I’m now at UC Berkeley, studying computer science & stats.
I enjoy exploring the quiet details of daily life, and seek to design coherent experiences realised through interaction. My interests lie in systems [kernels, optimisation], inference & perception [vision, colour].
I am VP of Machine Learning @ Berkeley , and teach CS 162 (Operating Systems and Systems Programming). For fun, I play table tennis, take photos and build custom PCs & keyboards .
I interned at Apple under the Linux team in the Silicon Engineering Group, was Pedagogy Head TA for Data 8 , and did ML research at BAIR.
I believe careful pedagogy is most foundational to any society: we should aim to democratise education, sharing knowledge to anyone who seeks it. Please see my teaching resources here.
